Jive-

Is one of the first swing dance styles to come out of Europe. Once American swing dances made their way to Europe they quickly evolved into something new. Jive is one of the fastest swing dances performed at a high tempo. Jives dance pattern is similar to east coast swing with a focus on circular motion with lots of turns and spins opposed to west coast swing which is danced in slots. Because of the high tempo and the exaggerated appearance of the dance movements compared to other swing dances makes it very appealing to competition judges and audiences alike. The style of jive used in dancing competitions can be referred to as ballroom jive.
